Citi Appoints Daniyar Akiyanov as Treasury and Trade Solutions Head for Romania

Citi today announced the appointment of Daniyar Akiyanov as Treasury and Trade Solutions Head for Romania, part of the local management team. In this role, Daniyar Akiyanov will be responsible for leading and developing Citi’s business offering integrated cash management and trade finance services to local and multinational companies, financial institutions and public sector organizations.

Daniyar Akiyanov replaces Sebastian Kucharek, who was promoted to the role of Citi Treasury and Trade Solutions Cluster Head for CE5* and has relocated to Hungary. Daniyar Akiyanov will be based in Bucharest, reporting to Sebastian Kucharek and Ivan Vrhel, General Manager of Citi Romania.

Akiyanov joined Citi in 2003 - 2005 and re-joined in 2008 as Head of Trade for Citi Kazakhstan. In 2012 Daniyar was promoted to Head of Treasury and Trade Solutions for Kazakhstan. Under his leadership the Treasury and Trade Solutions business in Kazakhstan established itself as one of the largest franchises in EMEA and market leader in cash management and trade. In 2017, Daniyar completed a short-term assignment with Citi Moscow, leading the cash management business for the Russia-Ukraine-Kazakhstan cluster. He holds a master degree in finance and credit from Almaty State Academy of Management.
